Spontaneous Cornwall holiday, day 2

Last day of the holiday! This weekend was the Saltash Regatta and today there was a Saltash Churches Together service being held on the waterfront. I've never been to this part of Saltash before, or twigged quite how hilly Saltash is - a few years back I did go through a stroll along the high street, but that and the Tamar Bridge is a fair height above sea level.

Unfortunately it was overcast and starting to rain, so after the service and browsing the market strolls we found a sheltered spot underneath the Tamar Bridge to eat our lunch. While munching away we heard a steam whistle in the distance...

Enhance!

Pull back - no, stop, go right!

It's the Tornado, a new steam train that was built about 10 years ago and on a trip into Cornwall. Again, we had no idea it was around and it was complete chance that we happened to be in the right place to see it go by.
The afternoon was spent helping
pleaseremove out with planning a public/private split network for his church (VLANs for the win!), followed out by giving him a hand with a bit of DIY in the garage. A couple of OSB boards that formed the garage loft needed adjusting to clear cables - the first was easy enough to swing down between the roofbeams and then blitz a strip off one side with a jigsaw (power tools for the win!), but the other was more determinedly wedged in. We needed to cut a deep notch out of it, and in the end drilled a series of holes to rough it out (initially with an auger bit, but a spade bit turned out to be more effective). Then we tried to sand it down with a dremel but that merely threatened to set fire to everything, so instead we just used sandpaper and elbow grease. DIY accomplished!
Somehow, whenever we're both involved in DIY we end up surrounded by just about every single power tool
pleaseremove owns. We didn't need the table saws this time though.
Before long however, it was time for me to set off back for Fareham, returning again via Dawlish...
