Random experiment with a graphics tablet. There's more that I want to do with this piece, but I'm hopeless at actually drawing stuff. Created using Corel Photopaint 7 and a Wacom tablet. Critique welcome.

Suggestion: take a look at these photos. Notice how:

1) The sky color gets much lighter towards the horizon. This'll add depth.
2) The ground/plants details are big close up, and finer far away. Try using different brush sizes.
  2b) optional: work from far to near so your "nearer" brushstrokes (plants) will be in front of the farther ones.
3) Put in a happy little bush or something for a focal point =)
  3b) If you really think you're hopeless at depicting something, put in a little river.

I have to agree with Nendil about the brush strokes. Thinner, tighter ones in the distance would help add to the illusion of depth.
Try an Open Canvas session sometime. It's a great way to master tablet use.

Open Canvas? Not come across that before, though I can probably guess at what it does.

I'll guess your guess is correct. OC lets up to four people get together and scribble on the same canvas. It has some drawbacks (like people joining halfway through will only see things drawn afterwards) but overall rather nice tools, especially compared to web-based things like Groupboard. I mirrored the last freeware version (1.1) on my site at http://www.foxmage.com/oC11b68.exe
