It generally takes longer than that for an appearance of flashing blue lights and associated fire fighters (as I know from experience, when someone in a nearby flat set theirs off at 3 in the morning), so it looks like security sorted it out. The fire alarms seem to be getting more frequent - day before yesterday there were a grand total of three alarms in seperate buildings (Chichester 1, Engineering 2, and somewhere nearby in Park Village). Maybe the uni should organise cookery lessons?

Date: 2005-02-17 09:46 pm (UTC)The kitchens actually have heat detectors (not smoke alarms obviously), so they only go off if it gets very hot in there (probably by "hot" they mean "the heat detector's on fire!").
Yup, that's a grand example of idiocy. I bet he's glad that you actually spotted it!
