Feb. 17th, 2005 09:17 pmThat's the second fire alarm in a few hours round here. Let's see how long it takes security to reset it:
(~9:10 pm)...
...
...(hopefully this one won't require any flashing blue lights)
...
...off! (~9:14pm)
It generally takes longer than that for an appearance of flashing blue lights and associated fire fighters (as I know from experience, when someone in a nearby flat set theirs off at 3 in the morning), so it looks like security sorted it out. The fire alarms seem to be getting more frequent - day before yesterday there were a grand total of three alarms in seperate buildings (Chichester 1, Engineering 2, and somewhere nearby in Park Village). Maybe the uni should organise cookery lessons?

Date: 2005-02-17 09:42 pm (UTC)it's crazy that so many alarms keep going off all over campus - last year the one in our flat didn't even go off when someone set fire to the oven.
one of my flat mates (at about 11:30 pm) decided he was hungry so put some burgers under the grill. he realised that he wanted some chips with his burger so he closed the grill (please note he didnt turn off the grill) and went to the pit shop (by the laundry) to get some!
when i went through the kitchen to the bathroom to brush my teeth (it being 11:30 at night) and noticed the flames coming out of the grill!
so i turned off the grill and phoned the night porter who came and yelled at my flat mate for being a total pillock.
