Sep. 5th, 2006 06:00 pmLarge fire in Lewes town centre, started about 3:30pm.
First found out from a colleague, who knew someone working nearby. Well, that explains all the sirens I've been hearing. Amusingly, when we phoned around to find out more it transpired that most of those in that office hadn't noticed, even though (apparently) windows were being blown out by the fire.
Was quite odd walking down the hill from County Hall. Normally the high street is full of traffic, but today I saw maybe 5 cars go by. The reason for this was because they closed off School Hill due to the fire.
Tried to take some pictures, but apparently the minature hamsters powering my camera had formed a workers collective and were on strike. Possibly this was due to me putting them in backwards, or maybe it's because I snuck an Eveready one in amongst the Duracell flock.
Grr, the one powering my MP3 player has just (5:43 pm, I'm writing this on my Palm as I walk home) run out off puff as well. I tell you, the hamsters have joined forces with the Lizard Alliance and the Rise of the Machines™ is coming!
