Jul. 8th, 2026 11:00 pmDecision made - as grand as the Breath of the Wild model is, for me Ocarina of Time is possibly my favourite Zelda game (it's a toss-up between that and Twilight Princess). The downside is this is the B-model, as shown by the instructions giving up on one bag at a time and asking for bags 10, 14 and 23 all at once!

Jun. 12th, 2026 11:06 pmBag 5! Something I've noticed with recent kits is Lego now tries to colour-code different size pieces. Here the 2x4's are white, 2x6's are green, and 2x8's are beige.
I knew this was going to be one of the larger sets, but I wasn't quite prepared for how big this will be. There's still half the base to go!

If you look carefully there's even a little triforce detail!
I'm now wondering which Master Sword this is - it looks more like Breath of the Wild (or Skyward Sword) than Ocarina of Time, though both those should have a gilded diamond rather than blue gem in the crossguard.

And after a bit of building, it's Hestu! With teeny tiny maracas that even rattle if you shake them!
Random Lego trivia: the maraca handles are T-junctions from Lego pneumatics.

Jun. 9th, 2026 09:39 pmBag 3! And we now have Breath of the Wild Link, and the start of the Great Deku Tree's grove where the pedestal for the Master Sword will be.
The yellow and orange domes and the pink flowers in the background represent mushrooms and radishes from Breath of the Wild - there's lots of little details in this set. Dotted around are even a few silent princess flowers.

Along with an adult Ocarina of Time Link minifig and a teeny tiny ocarina. And of course as soon as I saw that I remembered the jingle from when you learn a new ocarina song 🎶.

Yes, that's the Lego Great Deku Tree kit! It's been on my "ooh, shiny!" list ever since it came out, and I found out that Lego are discontinuing it - so I went and got it while I still could. Consider it a late birthday present to myself 😅.
Anyway, onwards with the building! I can see this kit is going to take some time...
Ocarina of Time young Link, surveying the contents of bag 1 (of about 20!). Did I mention the bags contain more bags? Lego's a lot more organised than it used to be.
This becomes the bottom floor of Link's treehouse complete with Navi! *hums Kokiri Forest theme*

pleaseremove gifted me a Lego Chrysanthemum.
Light My Bricks do a light-up kit for it which looks very shiny (and expensive!), and as work gave me a pay rise recently I decided to treat myself to it. I wasn't quite prepared for how small the pieces are!
Anyway an hour or so of rebuilding and fiddling later and I have this...
It puts me in mind of something out of Myst, or perhaps a fire fruit from Tears of the Kingdom (or aspleaseremove suggested a Mario fire flower).

Star Wars: another stormtrooper. He's armed himself with the large blaster from the other and is also taking aim at the battle droid (while a R2 or whatever scurries for cover). Nobody likes the battle droids!
