First one mug cracks just after I've filled it to make a cup of herbal tea, giving me a rapidly expanding pool of boiling water to try and mop up before it escapes from the worktop and floods the fridge underneath. That I managed to mostly catch by sliding a tray underneath the overhang of the worktop.

And just now while putting some mugs away I've discovered that another one has broken its handle and left the pieces underneath the draining rack.

To be fair, the first mug does date back to my university days... but still, isn't the entire point of mugs being ceramic that they don't break when you add boiling water?
