Today's surprise is an apparently legitimate email from the bank, which begins...
Hello Mr [livejournal.com profile] boggyb,

We've noticed you've been locked out of online banking. Click here to reset your details - it won't take long...
Okay, so it didn't really say [livejournal.com profile] boggyb, but it did contain my actual surname which I'm not posting here.

Despite reading exactly like the umpteen phishing emails that turn up these days, the link does actually lead to my bank's website. The security information in the email (name and postcode) are also correct. Either it's a really sneaky phishing attempt, or the bank has really locked my online access and emailed me to tell me about it.

I'm still ignoring it on principle - I rarely if ever use that bank's online system, and can always sort it out later if it has become locked.
