What a difference it makes to the dark area under the corner unit! We've been thinking about something similar for our kitchen, so it's useful to see them in situ. Not sure whether such things are available over here, though; NZ is officially too small for an Ikea, alas, although we can apparently get stuff imported from Oz - for a large markup.
