Date: 2010-01-16 05:45 pm (UTC)In the US, if your phone number is on the do not call list, they've just broken federal law. However, getting them to stop is damn near impossible. Crooks are like that.

Date: 2010-01-16 06:33 pm (UTC)Over in the UK we've got the Telephone Preference Service which does much the same as your do-not-call list. Most telemarketers backpedal very quikly when you mention it, though there's always a few that think they can ignore it (right up until Ofcom banhammers them).
