I claim this is real content, as it actually takes a while to put together these lists.

It's time for another round of Name That Song, with your host, [livejournal.com profile] boggyb!

You should all know the rules by now:
Step 1: Put your media player on random.
Step 2: Post the first few lines from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Let everyone guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Bold the songs when someone guesses correctly. Post the answers in a few days
As usual, looking them up on Google or any other search engine is considered cheating and will be punished by much mocking.

Where once was light
Now darkness falls
Where once was love
Love is no more

#2 (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] talismancer)
I don't expect my love affairs to last for long
Never fool myself that my dreams will come true
Being used to trouble, I anticipate it
But all the same, I hate it - wouldn't you?

#3
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion

#4
Please don't go crazy, if I tell you the truth
No you don't know what happened
And you never will if
You don't listen to me while I talk to the wall

#5
One night to be confused
One night to speed up truth
We had a promise made
Four hands and then away

#6
The priests go down to the river to fish for Friday's meal
The King is brooding day and night
Black with hate, cursing fate
To be ill when the foe is in sight

#7
Dheanainn súgradh ris an nigh'n dubh
'N deidh dhomb éirigh as a 'mhadainn
Dheanainn súgradh ris an nigh'n dubh

#8 (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] ladyofastolat, [livejournal.com profile] elemnar)
Seven days are in the week in almost every circumstance
And there's four seasons in the year or so we learned at school

#9
Buachaill ón Éirne mé 's bhréagfainn féin cailín deas óg
Ní iarrfainn bó spré léithe tá mé féin saibhir go leor

#10
Soave sia il vento
Tranquilla sia l'onda

#11
Every time I close my eyes I can clearly see
The image of your smile shine through my darkest dreams
I never thought that I'd find myself this close, this close
To you my dear, tell me what it means

#12
Can you stand alone
Be still and listen
Comtemplate your inner

#13 (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] ladyofastolat)
Glória in excélsis Deo

#14
I have changed
Just like you
Just like you

#15 (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] pewterfish, [livejournal.com profile] elemnar)
I love the way you're so deliberate,
How you light your cigarette
Head on one side as you pull, you look almost regal

#16 (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] ariskari, [livejournal.com profile] elemnar)
I don't know how to love him
What to do how to move him
I've been changed yes really changed

#17
I practise my scales, and I practise my bowing
My strings are all hot, ‘cause my fingers are glowing,
I fiddle all day, and I fiddle all night,
And my fiddlin’s really out of sight!

#18
Where are you this moment
Only in my dreams
You're missing, but you're always
A heartbeat from me

#19
Blue waves are rolling
Visions in my mind
Of a strange voice calling

#20
These empty days are filling me with pain
After I left it seems my life is only rain

#21
I noticed tonight that the world has been turning
While I've been stood here, dithering around
Though I know I said I'd wait around 'til u need me
I have to go, I hate to let you down

#22 (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] ladyofastolat)
Rex tremendae majestatis

#23
You see the world in black and white
No color or light
You think you'll never get it right
But you're wrong, you might

#24
Dearest constellation, heaven surrounding you
Stay there, soft and blue

#25 (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] elemnar)
Her voice is echoed in my mind
I count the days 'til she is mine
Can't tell my friends cuz they will laugh;
I love a member of the staff

#26 (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] elemnar)
From the ports of the west we sailed into the sun
South America bound a journey begun
Lights going out in the Barrios half a world away
Oceans to cross and a course to steer all the way

#27
Long ago, for many years
White men came in the name of God
They took their land, they took their lives
A new age has just begun

#28
King Kong,
In Cannes, on a date with Spiderman,
Dan Dare's sitting there,
Scared by the killer teddy bears

#29
We've been seeing what you wanted, got us cornered right now
Fallen asleep from our vanity, might cost us our lives
I hear they're getting closer
Their howls are sending chills down my spine

#30 (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] link007, [livejournal.com profile] ariskari, [livejournal.com profile] ladyofastolat, [livejournal.com profile] talismancer, [livejournal.com profile] pewterfish)
When you were young, and your heart was an open book
You used to say live and let live

30 - Live and Let Die, The Beatles/Paul McCartney

13 - Requiem? (totally a guess. I know I have this in a music book somewhere, but can't remember which one)

16 - I don't know how to love him - Jesus Christ Superstar?

Well...at least I'm pretty sure I knew one of that lot. The rest...not so much.

1. Gollum's Song from the soundtrack of The Two Towers. Can't remember who sang it, though.

8. Almost Every Circumstance, written by Colum Sands, and recorded by quite a lot of people. I've got two versions - the Sands family, and the Silly Sisters - but I'm sure there any many others.

13. Could be any any setting of the Mass in Latin. Since I'm particularly fond of Puccini's Missa di Gloria, that was the first that came to my mind, followed by Vivaldi's Gloria, but it could be any number of other settings.

22. Any setting of the Requiem Mass. Mozart's Requiem is the first that comes to my mind when I read these words, though.

30. Live and Let Die, by Paul McCartney and Wings - though, actually, the version I know much better is the Guns and Roses one, since that's on the Grosse Pointe Blank soundtrack.

Several others ring bells, but I can't pin them down. I'm not good at this.

4) ...well, that's a BladeRunner quote, but I'm not sure I know any songs with it in. Bladerunner soundtrack?
15) Faithless, "See You More"
30) "Live and Let Die", but the artist I don't recall. I shall attempt to claim that the artist is "James Bond". Might have been Spandau Ballet?
