Eyesight test

What's wrong with this photo?

The image above is roughly identical in size to the actual device. It's from the main PCB of my computer speakers, which died last night. The failure is visible in the photo, but needs good eyesight!

If you can't spot it, then try the original photo.

Lead Rampage!

A assume it's a trick question, because in addition to an interrupted "wire" (what are they called) near top left, the huge middle part looks like it's now one big blob. Was it always that way? Is it just a matter of cleaning up the solder overflow?

It's not a trick question - the broken trace is hard to spot in the first photo. It's very obvious in the full-size one, but I managed to spot it with nothing more than the naked eye.

I think the solder overflow is intentional, as it follows some neat 45° bends round the top. Underneath it is the main ground trace.

My first guess is the broken path in the upper left. My second would be the discoloration around the middle, looks like maybe the component behind there might have given up its magic smoke.

Yup, that's my best guess. Dunno about the discolouration in the middle - to me, it looks like the usual gunk you get around any soldering. The other side of that is the only chip in the entire thing, which must be an op-amp of some sort and has a decent-sized bit of metal stuck to the top of it (and soldered by the two tags in the middle, so possibly there's some heat come through there). My plan is to bridge the broken track, plug it in (it takes a 12v feed), and see if any magic smoke escapes.
