The image above is roughly identical in size to the actual device. It's from the main PCB of my computer speakers, which died last night. The failure is visible in the photo, but needs good eyesight!

Date: 2009-06-08 06:21 pm (UTC)A assume it's a trick question, because in addition to an interrupted "wire" (what are they called) near top left, the huge middle part looks like it's now one big blob. Was it always that way? Is it just a matter of cleaning up the solder overflow?

Date: 2009-06-08 06:39 pm (UTC)I think the solder overflow is intentional, as it follows some neat 45° bends round the top. Underneath it is the main ground trace.
