Today's random surprise is a glitch at my bank which has resulted in the direct debit to my credit card being the full value of the limit I set, not the actual amount due (which was much less). I did not know it was possible for a credit card to be, well, in credit.

Credit where credit's due - they sounded very surprised by the whole thing when I phoned them up, immediately reversed the excess amount, and promised to investigate further to make sure it doesn't re-occur. Let's see what happens next month...
