Date: 2007-02-05 01:32 am (UTC)there are loads of good reason to goto Vista, like many people you havnt really gone and looked for them, and the press have only really focused on security and graphics...

Date: 2007-02-05 05:52 pm (UTC)As to the remaining points, let's see...
Gaming? Most recent PC game I'm interested in is Lego Star Wars, and that runs fine here.
Office? As nice as the new UI may be, the current version does more than enough. Besides, I mainly use SmartSuite.
Security? Norton and common sense is more than adequate. Come to think of it, nothing's got close enough to trigger Norton in the past few years. IE6 and Outlook Express are suprisingly secure when you apply the little-known principle of common sense, and there's always Opera or Firefox.
Development? OK, you got me there. Assuming I write anything that monkeys around with low-level API calls and the like, then I have a problem.
Video? ffmpeg FTW! Besides, pretty much everything's DivX anyway (with H.264 appearing, but ffmpeg handles that fine).
HD-DVD, Blu-ray? Already supported.
When Sussex ITS migrates to Vista, then I'll consider it.
