A month ago I was up at Old Sarum, and wandered by St Lawrence's Church at Stratford-sub-Castle. War graves are unfortunately all too common in the UK as a legacy of the world wars (it's a rare and lucky village without a war memorial)... but I don't think I've found a churchyard with quite so many before (49 in total), or a Cross of Sacrifice.

THIS CROSS OF SACRIFICE IS ONE IN DESIGN
AND INTENTION WITH THOSE WHICH HAVE
BEEN SET UP IN FRANCE AND BELGIUM AND
OTHER PLACES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
WHERE OUR DEAD OF THE
GREAT WAR ARE LAID TO REST

THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE
