The Battle
Dec. 14th, 2004 12:06 amHis reflection advanced towards him, drawing his own sword, a shadowy version of the true one.
The two blades clashed, spun and clashed again in perfect synchronity, his opponent mimicing his every move.
But he was faster.
Feinting to the left, he quickly turned and delivered a stroke that should have sliced through his shadow.
He stared in astonishment when instead of falling back, his shadow merely faded away.
Something told him to duck, just as his shadow sliced at him from behind.
Rolling, he turned to face his fears once again. His darkest thoughts, his deepest secrets, they were all embodied in the dark form of himself before him.
The two fought on in silence, the blades clashing, with the water lapping round their feet.
