Reason #2 why I avoid deviantArt: their site is the worst abuse of Web 2.0 I have ever seen. Having two IE 6 windows open should not prevent a third (I've managed upwards of 50 windows open before now), but if those IE windows have pages from deviantArt then apparently I run out of window handles.

Blame IE all you like (I know Opera can handle a stupid number of deviantArt tabs), the simple fact is I do not see this with any other site.

It makes FF and Konqueror hog the CPU a lot, too, and the message centre can be terribly laggy.

Opera can, but I've still had devArt crash it on me. I think devArt is the only site that can crash Opera.

I just don't get it: if you have a website you know is going to be graphic heavy, wouldn't you program it around that? Oh, that's right, devArt has no programmers, just designers. XD

Short reply: I agree with you (as best I can with my limited knowledge of such things)

Really? You have issues with it do you? I have never noticed slow-down on it and these days our systems are pretty similar... In fact, i love some of their GUI... things like the multi-part dropdown... tis by far the best way to do things. And yeah, like the new page load system they are using to bring in gallery's... much faster for me. I do from time to time have issues with pages not actually coming up, however it only takes a single refresh to get to it, and half the time i think thats ghosts in the pornband
