A couple of minutes work with a variable power supply, some whitetack, a pair of crocodile clip leads and a half-dead case fan (bearings gone, but only noisy when cranked up to full speed) has resulted in me having a desk fan.
It's not the world's best fan, as it's hard to orientate and the airflow isn't particularly directed, but it does a good job of keeping the air moving.
A glass of fizzy apple juice with ice cubes is also good.
