Today's surprise is plastic hubcaps detonate most impressively when you run them over. Especially when it's in the middle of an archway with perfect acoustics for such. It sounded like a firework had gone off underneath the car!
At least I think it was a hubcap - the remains were in rather small pieces and hard to identify.
Since I was all of ten yards from my flat I just kept going and parked up. I think the tyres all survived, but I'll make a quick check of pressures tomorrow morning just to be sure.
